Paris - Why You Should Consider Going
3 Reasons You Should Visit Paris
You always hear how amazing Paris is from friends or family who visit, and sometimes it can make you a bit skeptical. I use to be the same way until I decided to find out for myself and I quickly found myself realzing how amazing Paris really was. .
1. Surreal Beauty
This city is filled with sights that you've seen on TV, magazines, movies, practically any and every source of media. I'm an architect by training, and for me I don't get too star struck when I see famous designs, but when I saw the Eiffel Tower for the first time I was completely in awe of its pure magnificence. There is not a single image of the Eiffel Tower that can do it the justice it deserves to be seen by your own eyes.
The sites continue to provide full shock and awe as you visit the Cathedral of Notre Dame, side note, I searched everywhere and couldn't find the hunchback. From the Cathedral you make your way to the Musée du Louvre, or more commonly known as simply the Louvre. Here you'll find the Mona Lisa in the underground museum. As you continue your journey you come upon the Arc De Triomphe, a magnificent symbol of power and history that is famously known to be the center of one of the worlds largest roundabouts (make sure to cross underground). The famous sites go on and on, and from my personal experience, when you see them with your very own eyes, you'll truly have a sense of surrealness.
To keep this one short, rent a bicycle and cycle around the city. It was probably my favorite part of my trip. Make sure to cycle up Champs-Élysées
3. Amazing Views
If you're a blogger, you tend to take an obscene amount of photos, in awkward places and random moments...but sometimes it pays off. Most people would think that the best view of Paris is from the top of the Eiffel Tower, and I wouldn't disagree, but I would like to suggest an alternative view that is just as great, if not in my opinion even greater.
When you visit Paris make sure to hit the Arc de Triomphe. When you get there be sure to get tickets to go to the top of the Arc and here is where I think the best view of the city can be seen.
Most people don't realize that back in the day, major cities would build these Archs as a symbol of power and it isn't the Eiffel tower that is the center of the city but the Arc de Triomphe. I was lucky enough to catch a beautiful sunset above the Eiffel Tower while I was up on top of the Arc de Trimophe with the sun rays cutting through the sky. It was absolutely breath taking.
So if you've ever been skeptical about taking a trip to Paris, I hope I was able to convince you that it's totally worth it.
